History

Annesley Primary and Nursery School is situated in an area rich in History, both ancient and recent. As a school, we provide children with the chance to learn and appreciate the importance of their historical past.

We use the teaching of history to stimulate the children’s interest and understanding about the life of people who lived in the past.

History teaching will be used to foster in children an interest in the past and to develop an understanding that enables them to enjoy all that history has to offer, whilst enabling children to know about significant events in British history and to appreciate how things have changed over time and also to develop a sense of chronology.

We intend to contribute to a child’s citizenship education through helping them understand about democracy, help them understand how Britain is part of a wider European culture and to study some aspects of European history, develop skills of enquiry, investigation, analysis and evaluation and help children understand society and their place within it, so that they develop a sense of their cultural heritage.
