Sadly, we are unlikely to be able to restart our Toddler Group. The needs of our children have to be our priority. After the disruption to their learning through the last 19 months, we cannot afford the disruption that running Toddlers has on the Foundation Unit.

The importance of play

Play skills and communication skills develop hand in hand. Play is one of the most influential and important ways a child learns about the world.

 By playing with both adults and children, children develop;
Interaction and social skills
 Problem solving skills
 Imagination and creativity
 Concepts and properties
 Lots and lots of words!

Children learn words by doing something and hearing the word at the same time, for example while scribbling, a parent might say
“you’re drawing a picture!” The child makes the connection between what they are doing and what they are
hearing.
