Our Project this term is Let's Get Wet! which will focus mainly on water and the many forms that it takes. We will begin by looking at rivers, the water cycle and how we use water. We will also be taking a closer look at the British Isles, our own local area and how this compares to a coastal location.

We will begin this term by working on some river themed poetry, before moving on to explanation text linked to how we use water. We will also be reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes and using this to inspire some of our writing.

In Spring 2 we will be reading Song of the Dolphin Boy by Elizabeth Laird. We will be using this wonderful text to help us write diary entries, and setting descriptions.

We are also placing a huge focus on our presentation and handwriting this half term, and I will be on the lookout for wonderfully presented and consistently joined pieces of writing.

Our main focus on Maths will be on multiplication and division, ensuring that we are confident with our times tables and related division facts before moving on to the written methods of column multiplication and bus stop division.

Our topic after this will be Fractions and Decimals, where we will need to apply our multiplication and division knowledge.

This term we are going to be looking at states of matter and changing states. We will investigate solids, liquids and gases, and how we move between these states. We will also be applying this knowledge to help us understand more about the water cycle.
