Our focus this term is - Ancient Greece.
We will begin this term by working on some Greek themed poetry, we will be looking at Pandora's Box and Kit Wright's Poem 'The Magic Box'. We will then explore performance poems. Before moving on to explanation text, linked to Greek Gods and Goddess'. We will also be reading 'Who Let the Gods out? by Maz Evans and using this to inspire some of our writing.
This half term, we are placing a huge focus on our presentation and handwriting, and I will be on the lookout for wonderfully presented and consistently joined pieces of writing. This work will then be displayed on our class page for all to see
Our main focus on Maths will be on multiplication and division, ensuring that we are confident with our times tables and related division facts before moving on to the written methods of column multiplication and bus stop division.
Our topic after this will be Fractions and Decimals, where we will need to apply our multiplication and division knowledge.
In Science this term we will be looking at All Living Things:
We will look at the characteristics of living things and begin to ask questions about local habitats and record our observations. We will look at how living things are classified. We will discuss environmental changes and consider natural changes that could happen to the environment and what impact these changes have. Our aim will be to create a large-scale work of art of an invertebrate.
History and Geography:
Ancient Greece – Study of Greek life and achievements and influence on the western world
How did the Greeks become modern day heroes?
Where did the Olympic games originate?
What are the similarities/differences between Ancient Greece to Modern day Greece?
This term we will look at who the Ancient Greeks were. We will explore in detail the Olympic Games, before hosting our own. We will also look at Greek Myths and Legends and how Greek architect has changed. The children will then design and make their own Grecian Urns.
