Does a snow man need a coat?

This week we will look at insulators and how different materials are better insulators than others.

When Robert Scott went on his expedition he needed to take certain equipment to keep him warm.

We are going to conduct an experiment to see which material is the best insulator.

You will need the following pieces of equipment;

3 ice cubes of the same shape and weight.

piece of foil.

Small piece of cloth.

Place all ice cubes on a plate or in a plastic container to collect liquid.

Wrap one ice cube in foil.

Wrap one ice cube in the cloth.

Leave one ice cube without a covering.

Use the stopwatch to record the time it takes for the ice cubes to melt.
