Foundation 2

Welcome to Foundation

We are the Wrens class

We have many exciting things planned this year, please check this page regularly for updates. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to Mrs Joesbury or a member of the Foundation team.

EYFS Curriculum

In foundation we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which is split into seven areas. These are;

Communication and Language

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Physical Development

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the World

Expressive Arts and Design

All of these areas are covered through a variety of play based activities, both indoors and outdoors.

Reading

Reading is SO important in Foundation. We encourage children to read 4 times a week, this can be at home with a grown up or at breakfast club. The reads need to be on different days and signed in their reading diaries. We will check the diaries each week and children that are reading regularly will be given a raffle ticket which will be entered in a prize draw at the end of each half term. The more raffle tickets you have, the greater your chance of winning!

PE and swimming

 Please ensure your child has the appropriate PE kit and footwear suitable for outdoor PE. PE kit is a t-shirt and shorts and either trainers or pumps. Children with long hair must have it tied up and any ear piercings need to be covered. Please ensure your child has their P.E. kit in school every day.

Swimming will take place every Friday morning. The children will be split into two groups which we will alternate each week. The swimming list will be in the window each week so you know which week your child will be swimming. Girls need to wear a full costume and boys need to wear swimming trunks. If your child needs to wear goggles please ensure you have completed the form and handed it in to myself or the office.
