Living through History poem

Still image for this video

We are going to stick with our poetry but with a twist. This week I would like you to write and perform your own poem. Remember the Henry VIII rap you did? Only this time you need to write the rhyme yourself. Remember to use how you are feeling, personification, metaphors and similes.  Use lots of expression and 'don't read like a robot!'

See if you can get your family to join in and send me the results...

Poetry skills.

Simile- This compares two things using words such as 'like', 'as', 'as though' or 'if'.

Mr E was as happy as a hippo in a mud bath.

Mrs McGowan has hair like a bird's nest.

Metaphors- This compares two things, without using words such as 'like' or 'as'. Instead it describes people or things as if they really were something else.

Mrs Roberts is a walking dictionary.

blanket of snow covered the hills.

Personification - This is when you give inanimate objects human characteristics.

The wind howled, the trees danced, the door moaned.

What do I miss?
