In Numeracy the children will answer one and two step word problems, using addition and subtraction. They will improve their measuring skills and learn to convert units of length. They will measure and calculate the perimeter of rectilinear shapes, using centimetres and metres. They will improve their knowledge and quick recall of multiplication facts and use them to solve division questions. In addition, they will learn how to multiply and divide by 0, 1, 10 and 100 and use diagrams to explain their answers. Each week, they will have the opportunity to use Abacus Active-Learn to develop their mathematical skills.
We will begin the second half term with a short project based around "St. George and the Dragon", a painting by Uccello, which we will use to practise the conventions of speech. We will continue to regularly use a variety of multi-modal resources to stimulate discussion, develop reading comprehension skills and provide a basis for writing in different ways. We will study "The Runner" by Keith Gray and consider the dilemmas posed for the characters in this book. We will use the Bug Club Comprehension interactive resources and workbooks as a focus for guided reading, using inference and deduction. We will learn how to write and perform play-scripts. We will use lists of Ambitious Vocabulary to widen our word choices, and spelling accuracy will be monitored through quizzes and assessments.
This term we will be learning all about healthy eating and how it helps our bodies.
We will have the chance to try some healthy snacks and design our own healthy menus.
