This half term the children will all be moving onto Phase 3 phonics. This means they will be learning digraphs (ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure and er) and tricky words (he, she, we, me, be, was, you, they, all, are, my and her). Please read with your child as much as possible to practise the new sounds and tricky words. In literacy our star author is Julia Donaldson. At this stage, children should be segmenting cvc words and hearing the sounds to spell them correctly - for example - j-u-g, s-i-t, d-o-g.  Children will also have the opportunity to begin to write captions and sentences.

Image result for numeracy

In numeracy we are looking at numbers 1 to 10. Children need to recognise the numbers, count objects to 10 and select the correct numeral to represent 1 to 10 objects. After that we are looking at measures. Children will organise two or three items by length or height and order two items by weight or capacity.
