In foundation we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, which is split into seven areas. These are:
Communication and Language
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
All of these areas are covered through a variety of play based activities, both indoors and outdoors.
Week 1 - Where do you go on holiday?
Week 2 - Where in the world do you go?
Week 3 - How do you get there?
Week 4 - What food do you see at the seaside?
Week 5 - Which animals live at the seaside?
Week 6 - How do you have fun in the sun?
In Maths, during this half term, we will continue to work on counting to 100 and count backwards from 20 to zero to reinforce the order of numbers to 20. We will look again at 2D and 3D shapes and explore their properties looking at corners, sides and whether they are symmetrical. Doubling will be re-visited and the children will double numbers to 5 and halve even numbers to 10 and begin to solve problems involving sharing. The children will count in 2's, 5's and 10's and learn the patterns of counting, recognising that when counting in 10's all numbers end in a zero. We will also look again at odd and even numbers.
In phonics we will continue working through the di-graphs in phase 3 and learn the tricky words he, she, was, my, we, me be and you.
