We are the Wrens class

We have many exciting things planned this year, please check this page regularly for updates. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to myself or Mrs Gibson.

EYFS Curriculum

In foundation we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which is split into seven areas. These are;

Communication and Language

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Physical Development

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the World

Expressive Arts and Design

All of these areas are covered through a variety of play based activities, both indoors and outdoors.

Reading

Reading is SO important in Foundation. We encourage children to read 4 times a week, this can be at home with a grown up or at breakfast club or after school club. The reads need to be on different days and signed in their diaries. We will check and celebrate the four reads every Friday, children who have got their 4 reads will stand in assembly and also receive a sticker on their bookmark. Once their bookmark is full they get to choose a brand new book to take home and keep.

PE

PE will take place every Wednesday morning. Please ensure your child has the appropriate PE kit and footwear suitable for outdoor PE. Children with long hair must have it fastened up and any ear piercings need to be covered.

Swimming

Swimming will take place every Friday morning. The children will be split into two groups which we will alternate each week. Each Monday I will put a list of the children going swimming that week on the door where you come in. Girls need to wear a full costume and boys need to wear swimming trunks. If your child needs to wear goggles please ensure you have completed the form and handed it in to myself or the office.

Water and a snack

The school has provided each child with a water bottle which will stay in class and has their name printed on it. Snack is also provided and we have fresh fruit available every day for the children to eat. However, your child may still bring in their own healthy snack and water bottle if they wish to do so.

Archie Bear

Introducing Archie Bear, our school mascot!

We will ‘Achieve with Archie’, if we are:

Ambitious - encouraging children to have aspirations and have ambitions to ‘dream the big dream’. To try, try and try again, even when things are challenging.

Respectful - treating others how they would like to be treated.

Confident - preparing our children for a world which is changing every day, to tackle new things with confidence.

Honest - telling the truth, to say what we mean and do what we say we are going to do.

Independent - foster a love of learning and promote independence and encourage questioning.

Equal - celebrate the difference and individuality of others
