Autumn 2

Would you rather live in a castle or an igloo?

Learning Challenge Questions

Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 Week 6
Would you rather live in a castle or an igloo? Which animals could live in an igloo? Which plants do we find in winter? What celebrations do we have at this time of year? How do we know which season we are in?

What is the weather like in other countries?

In English, we will start by looking at a range of Traditional Tales. We will also be looking at some non-fiction texts and towards the end of the half term we will be looking at Christmas Stories. Our focus is on improving our handwriting and presentation in books (letter formation, sitting letters on the line etc.) and writing in full sentences with capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Some children will also be making their writing more interesting by varying sentence starters, using ambitious vocabulary and using conjunctions (eg. and, because).

Maths objectives for this half term:

  • To use the part whole model
  • To recognise and understand the symbol for addition
  • To remember addition facts I can find number bonds within 10 (20)
  • To use systematic methods to work out all number bonds to 10 (20)
  • I can compare number bonds
